Rustic House
1. IDEA
Located 1 hour from Porto, this weekend retreat has a beautiful view on the Tamega river.
The original stone house dates from 1800’s and the rehabilitation will aim at creating a space that is in harmony with the exterior areas, including pool, garden and the river.
2. PROCESS
To balance the cold, existing granite walls, bigger openings and warm south-facing light will help to warm up the interior.
The existing stone walls will be rehabilitated to frame a cozy garden that complements the house.
3. SOLUTION
The house is a sunset house, opening up to the magnificent view of the river in the afternoon sun. The 90 m2 interior extends onto a garden on both sides of the house. Each has a different quality and is programmed for difefrent activities, the East garden with the pool and more private, the West garden more open and warmer st sunset.
