1. IDEA
Located in the historic center on the illustrious Rua da Alegria, this is the conversion of a 100 m2 apartment with an inner patio.
Located in the heart of the city yet facing the back of the building, the apartment has a special sense of quiet and 1950’s modern air.
2. PROCESS
The rehabilitation focused on restoring the 1950’s details, ambiance and texture by resurfacing stone walls and refinishing surfaces. The granite interplays with soft and warm finishes and lighting to create a delightful and comfortable space that combines both historic and modern world charm.
A challenge for this project was to optimize the light in a North facing apartment. Raising the ceiling height, removing walls and playing with reflectivity all helped to achieve this.
3. SOLUTION
This somewhat dark apartment was made brighter with a colorful decoration and use of a balanced and warm lighting design.
The result is an apartment that evokes the warmth of its era.
